Happy Birthday - Easel Card Revisited!!!

Heya,

a quickie quick post with another take on the

ICRC11 - Easel Card + Basic Shape Challenge...

i saw this SEME tute a couple of months back and instantly fell in love with it...

but honestly,

i thot i didnt have the patience to get thru with it :D

but then i finally gave in and here it is...

DCWV CS and DPs, Pebbles DP, laces, ribbons, pearls, MS punch, PB Betsy Bluebell stamp, white glass liner,
color pencils, stocking balloons, candles and candle holders!!!

it's got Balloons, it's got confetti, it's got a Cake, it's got Candles, it's got heartfelt Warm Best Wishes... all that you need for a B'day, is right here :)

You could actually place those candles on dat cake there...

the candles in the box were supposed to go on top there but i conveniently packed

and forgot all abt 'em:) but then i realized,

the other ones actually go better with it considering the card colors

some mistakes are for good... aren't they ;)

If you are wondering how this will go in the post, it's pretty easy...

the card folds down like a box top case and the ribbon ends can be

tied together to keep everything intact!!!

Hope you will give the Easel Cards a shot too... as daunting as they might seem, they are quite easy to make... (and with my new Scor Pal, it was a breeze :D)

Clear Block Stamping!!

Tried my hand at a great new technique illustrated by Piali over at Yvonne's Blog...
the Clear Block Stamping!!!

White and Black CS, some SU pattern papers, worn lipstick, crushed olive, DD Ippity, Inkadinkado and PB stamp, Versamark, black embossing powder, black rhinestones, polka dotted ribbon and faux stitching!

I tried clubbing the clear block stamping technique with masking...

Punched out some circles... pasted them randomly on the cardstock... stamped with worn lipstick 1st... restamped with crush olive as a 2nd coat... and finally, pulled out those circles... Voila!!!

It has a mini tag which pulls out from the side...

U cn write a secret message on it too... shhhh... ;) lolzzz...

The Bestest Buddies ever!!!

29^th September, 11:40pm – 8 amazingly talented ladies and super awesome friends made this moment a memory of the lifetime for me!!!

Experienced a flood of emotions… shock, tears, laughter, disbelief, noooooo, whaaaat???, reallllly???, awwww, booo hoooo…. Everything at one go!!!

Imagine a blog hop just for You!!! Yes buddy, you heard it right!!! And that’s exactly what these darling sweeties did:

No words dat I write or utter can justify the gratitude and respect that I have for these buddies

for going this super extra length and arranging this for me!!!

It felt and still feels like a dream…

I do wake up even now and go back to their blogs to see and believe dat it did happen!!!

I almost hd a mini heart attack the moment I saw it… and you guys call me a

hysteric freak;)

lolzzz…. well I was, almost for the whole day… because the shock didn’t end there…

as ‘someone’ said, “picture abhi baaki hai mere dost’…

ICR Secret Buddy Swaps

Asha and Tejal, i seriously love you for this...

what a super great idea girls!!!

I must confess... to begin with i was really inhibited by the whole idea

and

it really took me a week (with serious help from Tejal) to understand

what and how to go about it!!!

But once i did get down to making them, God, they were so so addictive!!!... i wanted to make dozens in a go.... and i really think i am soon gonna do that ;))

'All good things come in small packages'...

Butterflies and the May CCC!!!

Hey!!!

Hope you are doing good.

Today i have a special card to share with you.... Not because it's made for someone special, infact i had no one in particular when i made it.... but because i am quite fond of it and because i made it some considerable time back but have not been able to post it....

and you know why???

Because this card is an exact copy of a card i saw on a blog... and all this while i have been going bonkers for 2 reasons.... firstly because i couldn't decide whether it was the right thing to post it on my blog when the design and idea was someone else's... but then a close friend advised 'copying is the sincerest form of flattery' and i thought that really made a lot of sense as long as i am not taking undue credit for anything...

and second because i just couldn't locate the original artist's name... and now that i have, i am so happy and proud to present Sarah Martina, an absolutely amazing crafter who need no introduction and definitely not from me :) Love her work and she has been a true inspiration to me...

So, without further ado... here's the card!!!

I quite liked the outcome and couldn't help but share with you guys (despite of the fact that it is not my design/color idea originally)...

Crochet Soap Bag

Hey,

am here to share a totally non paper thingy with you today...

yeah, me learning to crochet!!! yippeee....

have been quite mesmerized with it for loong... though i cn knit a bit but have never been able to get the real hang of crochet... but there were some tipping off points that got me started instantly...

this adorably cute cupcake by Lisa and the super cute amigurumi toys by Laura... plus my newest love... my niece Nysha!!! Lisa was super helpful and infact she's the one who got me started with it from scratch!!! Thank you so much girl!!!

and guess what i came up with:

a soap bag for my niece:) yeah, me made it:))

sorry for the bad pic :( it's a nice and soft shade of periwinkle in real!!!

Hey,

a quick post with a before-seen-card but in a diff. color combo:)

did this card earlier for a very dear blogger friend on her bday :) and now it's for my sweet sis-in-law on her bday!!!

Pink and green were the mantra for the day... coordinated with the wrapping paper on the present.

Hope she likes it!!!

and just wanted to put in a note of Thanks to all my super sweet and supportive friends of the *blogland* (isn't it very true to it's name.... like a fairly land it transports you to a world totally different and away from the stresses of the 'real' world.... a place where you can unwind... a place where you want to be, forever!!! )

Recently during my short stint as a Guest Blogger on Kavitha's blog, i recd. such touching words of encouragement that i am still smiling from ear to ear... oh yes, ask my DH...

i know it sounds crazy but my eyes were almost moist by the time i was through to the end of it.

It is so over whelming to read such sweet comments and words of love and support from all of you!!! You all make everything so worth it... Thank you so much buddies you sure made my day!!! I am so so happy and proud to know you guys and honored to be a small part of your world!!!

Heya,

How u doing?? been such a loong time :)

things just didn't seem to fall in place off late... but much better now:)

Just a quick post to share some fun with all of you:

I remember being part of chain letters when i was a kid.... so, when i read about Deborah's Card Chain, I immediately jumped at the opportunity... the Challenge is now housed at The Lily Pad Blog with some changes. You gotto make the care based on either their color palette or sketch or one of the theme options and link it to the Challenge. Later on you get to know who's sending to whom... what fun!!! Who doesn't love surprises and the CCC Challenge has surprises galore... :)

I tried incorporating the color as well as the theme... I am not a Sketch person at all :(

I somehow tend to squirm and squeal when confined to a sketch...:)

Kraft CS, White Textured CS, DD and PTI stamps, twine and KC PP paper for the looped edges and a sorbet button to complete the look...

Tried water color and layered stamping for the first time, totally inspired by Shari's videos

and technique tutes... Though this card will go out to a card chain buddy

but it was made with 2 gorgeous ladies in mind... my Mom and my M-i-L...

2 Super Moms i am blessed to have in my life...

love you two!!!

i am omitting the scrap pics to cut the bulk in the post...

to be fair, each of you were sent the exact number and size of stuff and the scrap just simply varied in color and design...

Hey Girls!!!

How are you doing today... :)

am here to share a special card with all of you...

we are celebrating 'being us' over at the Indian Craft Room...

our very own space created by the 2 uber talented lovely ladies Asha and Tejal... the card has been inspired by the image over at the ICR...

it won't be wrong to say that this card is very 'Me'... not only does it have some of my favorite things but it also depicts my lifeline... my Friends!!!

to begin with... the Color... L-O-V-E pink and the way it beautifully gels with brown and black...

tried paper pleating too for the 1st time and it was fun... reminded me of the folded fans from the childhood days :) lolzzz...

2ndly... Rhinestones... simply adore the delicacy and that extra oomph that it adds to
anything it gets added to...

finally the image... my PRICELESS FRIENDS (for everything else there's mastercard:) lolzzz...)

for me my friends are super super precious...

most of my friends know that i am bad at staying in touch,

they still love me and haven't abandoned me yet... lolzzzz....

they love me for what i am...

just the thought of my friends being there for me , comforts me...

and off late, have made some amazingly beautiful friends @ the blogland and i wonder what i would do without them... they are not only encouraging in everything i create but they also know how to turn a dull day into a bright one for me...

how u doing???

Have something super fun to share with you today.

A while back my blog completed its 100^th post… due to some reasons I could not share the joy with you then … but as they say better late than never… J So, today here I am to celebrate with all of you but a little differently…

I will be putting across a fun Challenge to all of you…

Long back, I was introduced to this concept by Spardha and though we did exchange stuff but the lazy me never got down to probably making them or maybe i did, did I buddy? ;)

This is how the Challenge goes…

I will be mailing out SCRAPS to all of you… yes, you heard it right… scrapsJ or crafty leftovers as we call them…

(the image is not of actuals... it's just a representation of the idea)

what you receive could vary from torn corners of pattern papers, ribbon pieces, scrap embellishments, lacey bits to anything under the sun… and I want you to create one card using all of those scraps creatively.

Apart from the scraps you receive, you are allowed to use only the following basic supplies:

Card Stock
Adhesives
Color pens/Markers/Pens and other writing instruments
Your tools like the scissors, punching machines, die cutters, etc… Only the tools/machines can be used… what you use them on, has to be either the above card stock or the scraps…
on popular demand and as suggested by Ujjwal and Tejal, have decided to include stamps in the basic list as well... however, there are 2 conditions to go with it:

* Only one stamp allowed
* No image stamp allowed... only borders, sentiments, flourishes, etc allowed :)

If I have left out anything from the basic supplies list, pls feel free to mail me and it will be considered.

All of you interested in participating please shoot me a mail with your postal address and contact no. before the 18^th of February, 2011. The list of participants would be put up on the blog on the 18th.

I’ll get the scraps out to you by the 22nd of February, 2011.

Considering it should reach you latest by a week, you will have time till 7^th March, 2011 to make your cards and mail me the pics.

I will be posting the card pics on the blog on 7/Mar. Pls don’t put them up on your blogs before the 7^th of March, 2011 in keeping with the spirit of the Challenge.

After the 7^th of March, we together would be deciding the challenge winner… will come to that part later… :)

Prize: Rs. 500 gift voucher from either Hobby Ideas or Itsy Bitsy… winner’s choice!!!

guess what i came back home to today... (actually right now:))

In all this flurry, i realized i haven't mentioned the sender... but do i really need to!!! am sure you guys would have guessed... Yes, it's from a sweetheart of a friend,

have been peeping over at her blog all this while to see whether those 1000 butterflies have been revealed and to catch a glimpse of that project... have been guessing around on what it could be... and here it is right in my hand!!!!

wow, could i have asked for more...

each butterfly is a beauty in itself... lovely colors, each individually glittered, rhinestones stuck and ready to take flight...

my hubby and parents are equally delighted... my DH is back from work a little early today... he and our parents were hovering over my shoulders when i was opening the envelope... and all of us said in unison ...

Hello Hello Hello....

how have you been... it's been so so looooong!!!

Loads of things have been happening, all at the same time... and amidst all, my mojo has deserted me as well :)

Few things before i jump to the card...

My Christmas card made it to the top 4 at the Crafty-jc Challenge...

it's the 1st time ever, my card has featured anywhere and i am really really thrilled about it... Thanks Jaya :)

2nd up, our sweet friend Kavitha is giving away a candy on the completion of her 300 posts... wow, dats super, 300 posts!!!

and finally, my best(est) friend and her hubby moved into a new house. She had the housewarming ceremony sometime back... made this card for her...

saw this card on two peas in a bucket soemtime back and i knew i wanted to make this one for her... both of them loved it and am so glad they did :)

some PB pattern papers, punch out flowers and leaves, rhinestones, the bird, heart and the alphas are sponge stickers... the card has a small square backing to write the matter in...

made a coordinating envelope(actually boxelope:)) to go with it...

Hey Everyone!!!

Doing good? am sure you are:) me very well!!!

here's a quick post on a new technique i tried a while back... have been eyeing all these yummy videos by Jennifer Mcguire on resist embossing... have been so so tempted to try one and i finally did :)

It's a pretty direct copy of one of the cards i saw on her blogs but then... :)

choco chip and ecru CS, some cool hero arts stamps :), distress inks, MS border punch, butterfly punch, rhinestones, chipboard button and ribbon... and faux stitching...

It's my sis-in-law's(my fave one :)) bday and this is already on its way to her :) hope she likes it...

also wanna share this beauty of a card i received from a very sweet friend Juhi... trust Juhi to experiment with materials and churn magic... Thanks Girl!!!

Hey Friends...

Seems like a really really looong time.... yup... loads happening... and trust me am sure u don't want me to even begin telling you all the never ending stories of wats kept me away... so let's just let it be ;))

Loong back my hubby placed an order for some Christmas Cards with me... yes, 'Order'!!! He promised to compensate me by letting me buy some craft goodies i have been lusting for looong... Inspiration ;)

So, looong back here's what i came up with...

got this super cute reindeer stamp from Ujjwal... Thanks buddy, you are a savior!!! Stamping, punching and rhinestones... hope he likes them...

for some strange reason i just love making cards for Christmas...

made a coordinating envelope too... some water stamping and stones...

these have been inspired by an awesome card by Pia Overgraad i set my eyes on sometime back...

due to some hiccups these got stranded midway...
now they are all set and ready to go...

the moment i saw 'Julie Elak's' super cool challenge over at Yvonne's blog... i knew i couldn't miss it... but you know some people just cant get their mojo running unless it's the last minute (literally)... :))

Without saying much... here's my take on the challenge Julie had for us...

Isn't this wagon cart a darling!!!

the template is by Sue over at the clear and simple stamps... It's made completely out of card stocks (yes, me not using PPs... not believable :))... tried loads of distressing here... am not too gud with distressing and often shudder at the thought but had loads of fun assembling this cutie thing together... some buttons, pink floss, MS punch, gingham and 'my' faux stitching...

i avoided using any sentiment just to be able to use it for diverse purposes... baby shower, new born, favor box, baby girl b'day... etc... :)

So, how is it going??? It's been raining cats & dogs in Delhi... awesome weather punched with clogged roads and massive traffic jams!!!

My nieces and nephews are busy with their exams, soon to be followed with a fortnight long 'Commonwealth Games' hols... In the meantime i thought i would stir up some 'Well Done' cards for them in advance... (well, i know they'll do well... after all they're my kiddies... lolzz...)

this one has been completely inspired by one i saw awhile back on Jennifer's blog.... some red cardstock, embossed wausau sheet, some old ledger papers, ric racs, twine,sentiments, a jam-pin & a board-pin as embellishments...

check out that 'Apple'... dats completely handmade from start to finish... cut out each part separately... colored and pieced it together... applied a generous coat of glossy accents(thanks Tejal) all over... luks like a sticker, doesn't it? ... :))... love the way it turned out!!!

there's a coordinated envelope to go with it too...

Hey...

it's my very first Teacher's Day card ever... am a li'll shy to say that during my school years, i was one of those 'teacher's-pet' kinda student... so have many a teachers who have been on my fave-list... and am quite indebted to them for what they've made out of 'me'...

Today, i would from the bottom of my heart like to thank each one of them... and this one is for the 2 of my most favorite of them all... for my Mum and Dad... this card is a small token of my love and appreciation for all the hardships they went through to bring up a nuthead kid like me :)

Thank you for supporting me when i have been right... thank you for loving me even when you knew i was wrong!!! Love you both Loads!!!

This card has been made completely out of just 1 sheet of an A4 ecru card stock... all elements have been cut and separately colored using acrylic tones... some faux stitching, glossy accent for the tip, jute twine and a tag... dats about it!!

PWCO Challenge - Day 4

Hey Everyone...

Yes, i am alive... have managed to survive these past 24 hours... its been ages since i hve been so nervous about something... the last time i underwent such pangs were probably during my CA exam days...

there's a funny thing i learnt this time around... whenever in the past i have participated in challenges, its been me-on-my-own kind of a thing... basically a very chiiled out affair... However!!! this team challenge got me going so crazy... more for 2 reasons:

* it was like ... ok so it's 8.30pm... challenge's up... and then the mind goes blank... suddenly i started dreading even having said yes to taking part in it...

* and 2nd and the most important, because i was sure my teams' going to be let down by performance...

things which would otherwise take me few minutes to do, took hours!!! yeah, i am a self declared one helluva CRAZY person!!!

Anyways, to cut the crap short... the 4th and the last Challenge went up on Paperworks & Co. and it was a Technique Challenge:

Make your own designer paper, must include a picture of the paper you made before you used it in the card/project. You can use various techniques to make your designer paper (ie: shaving cream, marbling, embossing etc) or do multiple stamping on pretty paper. As long as you’re within the animal theme, it would be fine!

and here's my take on it...

Isn't this image adorable... it's been kindly donated to us by the

We had to create our very own design paper and then use it in our projects...

Had quite a lot of fun doing this... and this how i went about it...

took a plain red paper and bleached it so that it lost some of its gloss and that christmasy red feel was toned down to a more subtle red...

then i cut out a circle and punched in some dots
to create a polka dotted effect...

then i assembled all possible sentiments i had in a grid kinda format and put them on a plastic box lid (since i don't have this big a stamping block), stamped them onto my precut circle and embossed it... i then layered it on a circle cut out of a plain white cardstock... and there you go!!!

the fun part was the detailing... today i used up almost a year long supply of my
double sided tape to give loads of dimensions...

real objects like cotton balls, grass, jute, band-aids and blood (lolzzz... just kidding abt the last one :))

a handcut tree with lightly embossed veins, tiny leaves, gross grain ribbon stuffed with some self made pins...
and yes, the sentiment!!! by Chi Chi Memories again... ;)

The Spooky Cat!!!

Hey Everyone!!!

Hope you're doing grrrrt!!!

the last few days have been both busy and fun... loads of super exciting stuff happening... and i am here to share one of those with you which went up on the Blackleaf Studio blog today...

Today's post is about my first time attempts at some things...

Warning: this post might be a little wee bit longer than my usuals but i hope i can manage to keep you going till the end :)

Tanvi @ Blackleaf Studios sent us some of these amazingly fun DP sheets for Halloween for us to play with... This was my 1st ever Halloween project and i sure did have a blast doing these...

so let's roll and see what we've got...

To begin with is the 'Spooky Cat Cap'

Isn't she a darling... Blackleaf DP combined with some crimped solid sheets, some tulle ruffles and a 'boo' teaser with faux stitching to go with it... that head on the top was created using a small tennis ball... painted all over and then eyes popped out with an extra dollop of white paint...

Next in line is the 'Spooky Cat Purse'

Blackleaf spooky cat and spider web DP sheets combined with some tulle ruffles, a button and some cute blackleaf embellishes ... and yeah, faux stitching...:)

these cute flowers on the sides are from Blackleaf too...

the sheets are super versatile... they are not only great as stand alones but also create magic when mixed and matched and combined to give a completely different look all together...

love that web sheet specially... have reversed colours to match my project and added dat tiny rhinestone...

Ghosh, i dint even spare a Halloween project

with my 'bling mania' ... :D

Coming up is the 'Spooky Cat Treat Cone'

Blackleaf DP with some faux stitching, matching ribbons and feathers...

notice that tiny creepy creature that has crawled it's way right to the top???

that's my 'Spidy', the spider...

isn't he adorable!!!

a rough sketch of his body and eyes, cut out vaguely, coloured and his legs fixed and coloured too... (Thanks Mel)

have added a small wire spring at the back,

which gives it a pop-out effect...

and yes, a generous coat of gloss and he's ready to crawl!!!

And last but not the least is the 'Spooky Cat Card'

Blackleaf skull DP, spider web DP, Spooky cat DP combined all into for this one... have burnt and distressed the edges of everything possible on this card...

i was having so much fun doing this, din't realise the whole room was smelling of burnt ashes strong enuf to send my hubby in a tizzy!!! he came running to inform me dat something was burning and then went back fuming when he saw 'who' ws behind all this... lolzzz....

Some gross grain ribbon, a cat charm and an acetate pocket which i stitched with my mum's sewing machine... it's my very first attempt at real stitching ever on my card... ws wanting to do this for looong:)

that's a pull out Tag inside the acetate pocket...

PWCO Challenge - Day 3

Hey,

i am back with the day 3 updates... We are almost half way done!!!

The 3rd Challenge was an inspiration challenge:

'Base your card on an animal of your choice, it must be more inspired than simply the stamp you use, but the overall feel of the card. Specially, the card has to be more than just using the animal stamp. For example, you can look at Zoie the Zebra, and make a card using a zebra stripe pattern, or make a jungle themed card using the Jungle Jesters. The variations are endless.

We’re not going to be super picky.. all we want is to see how the stamps inspire YOU to make an out of the box project.'

and Spardha cooked up this amazing layout with the cute li'll pic of she and her sis... she's a super pro at doing things differently and this is no exception...the doily looks gorgeous and the doodling completely stands out!!!

Never knew a challenge could be so exciting and nerve wracking...

Just a quick post on this Sunday morning!!! Yeah, its my first ever post on a Sunday... soft drizzles and loads of sun... i guess the only thing i am missing is the rainbow... how as kids the idea of rainbow just fascinated me so so much :)

A Clear Card

Hey Everyone!!!

For some reason i just looove clear cards... though it's not really everyday that i make one but i kind of like the look of them almost every single time... they give a totally different character to things, a hide 'n' seek kind of a look!!! love it...

However, one problem that i inevitably face with them is clicking them... yeah, i know, not that i am too great with photographing the non-clear ones too :) but the clear ones are a sure shot trouble makers at that ...:)

neways, tried my hand at one tonite...

OHP sheet, choco chip kraft paper, pink paper flower stickers, some sheer ribbon, stamps, jute twine, some stones, white gel pen... well that's about whats gone into making it...

Some people like me never change... struggling on the last day to fit my entry in for this awesome challenge by the guest blogger Amy up at Yvonne's blog... thanks both you super talented girls for this amazing challenge...

i love patterned paper and i just cant stop myself from hoarding loads of them... i think that's my biggest craft expense after punches and stamps :)

Hellooo Friends...

All this time while lazying around and browsing through numerous craft blogs of some super talented friends from across the world, i have been quite intrigued by their WOYWWs(what's on your workdesk wednesdays)...

all this while i hve been quite tempted to take part in one myself but have never quite managed to (well, don't ask me why, i won't have a convincingly valid answer for that for sure:)) ...

have u ever got up @ 5 in the morning to craft??? well i did, today...

had to leave this card unfinished a couple of days back... and suddenly in the morning had this super urge to go and finish it:) [i wish this urge wud continue, so i cud be a little more regular with crafting]...

Well, there's another reason for this urge... made this card for my sis-in-law who is probably the sweetest sis-in-law in the world... she's a total sweetheart and i totally totally adore her...

bt she wud be leaving bak for her home soon and i wud really miss her:( so, this is a small token of my love for her... We love you Pooja:)

Hei Everyone!!!

have been wanting to make this card for Juhi's quilled challenge on Yvonne's blog ever since i saw the post there last week... but have been crazy like insane the whole week and my hands have been itching to quill all this while... thank u girls for this lovely theme...

i simply love quilling... requires a huge amount of patience(which i usually run out of).... but the results are very delicate and beautiful...

theres awesum amount of talent out there... and the stuff people can create out of quilling is unbelievably stunning!!! boggles me how they do it!!! here is my mini-attempt at quilling :) made this card using an inspiration from Kristina's blog... have adapted it to my quilling theme...

the sweet treats are quilled... the grid at top has been created using quilling strips as well...

Whew... after a looong week...

Hey,

Last weeks been hectic like crazy... but as they say, alls well that ends well ;)

Amidst all the other mad rush, sneaked in some extra

hours to make some cards... Yes, i finally discovered some people(like me:)) work only under pressure...

So, Spardha and me set deadlines to create 20 cards in 10 days time... and the lazy me kept crawling in the first 5 days and spent the last 5 fretting on the fact that now the time is too short:) Needless to say, i culdn't complete my 20-20 target but did manage to make about 12 :)

Since the card was a little odd sized, i whipped up a coordinating envelope as well:)

The stamp is a digi image from Sliekje... amazing images!!!
Cut out the outer rim and smudged it with pink glitter... love the result and the look it gave:) have had these feathers for long and din't really know what to do with them, saw the Bizzy Becs flowers and wings challenge and it seemed to fit right:)
